Matteo Guidicelli, a well-known actor in the Philippines, has expressed his
Christmas wish of starting a family with his wife, Sarah Geronimo. During a
press conference for his upcoming film "Penduko," set to be released as part
of the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), Matteo shared his desire to
have a baby in the future. He stated that he is ready to embrace fatherhood,
regardless of the gender of their child.
Matteo, who plays the lead role in "Penduko," expressed that he and Sarah
have been discussing their plans to build a family. He emphasized that his
priority is his wife and their future family. However, he also acknowledged
that they cannot plan too rigidly, as they believe that the timing and
blessings for having a baby are in God's hands. They remain hopeful and pray
for the best outcome.
When asked about the possibility of working with Sarah in a future project,
Matteo expressed his openness to the idea. The last time they collaborated
was in 2011 for the film "Catch Me, I'm in Love," where Matteo was paired
with Gerald Anderson. Reflecting on that time, Matteo shared that he had a
crush on Sarah.
Matteo mentioned that he hopes for a collaboration in the future, but the
decision ultimately rests with Sarah and the team behind the project. He
acknowledged Sarah's dedication to representing Filipino content and art,
particularly through her music, which consists of Original Pilipino Music
(OPM) created by Filipino artists. Matteo expressed that if they find an
interesting project that aligns with Sarah's artistic vision, they will
consider it.
Matteo expressed gratitude for the blessings he has received throughout the
year. In addition to his involvement in "Penduko," he is part of the GMA
drama action series "Black Rider" and serves as a host on the morning show
"Unang Hirit." Matteo and Sarah have also embarked on several business
ventures together. He reflected on the unpredictability of life and the
importance of being prepared physically, mentally, and spiritually for the
blessings that may come their way.
Despite the challenges they have faced, Matteo feels that he is ending the
year on a positive note with his first MMFF experience through "Penduko."
The film, produced by Epik Studios, Cignal TV and Sari Sari Network, Inc.,
and Viva Films, is directed by Jason Paul Laxamana. The cast includes Albert
Martinez, John Arcilla, Kylie Verzosa, Annika Co, Mark Anthony Fernandez,
Candy Pangilinan, Arron Villaflor, Andrea del Rosario, and more.
"Penduko" revolves around Pedro, a young man with mythical and supernatural
powers who becomes an albularyo agent. He utilizes his skills to help those
in need and combat evil forces.
When asked about his belief in "agimat" (amulets) and "anting-anting"
(charms), similar to Pedro's character, Matteo shared that during his time
as a ranger, he encountered many soldiers who believed in the power of these
objects for protection. While he personally wears a cross necklace with a
Philippine sea pearl and an Italian cornuto necklace for good luck, he
humorously mentioned that his true "agimat" is his wife, Sarah.
As Matteo eagerly awaits the release of "Penduko" during the 49th Metro
Manila Film Festival on December 25, he remains hopeful about his Christmas
wish to start a family with Sarah. They trust that the right time will come,
and in the meantime, they continue to focus on their careers and enjoy the
blessings that life brings their way.
