Job Title: Senior Food Safety Manager


Department: Food Safety and Cleaning Services


Proposed Grade: FC09



Business unit Purpose:



Establish, implement and sustain Food Safety compliance requirements stipulated by the local regulatory authority, World foods safety standards for in-flight catering, Medina Quality and Safety Standards, and Airline customer specific requirements.


In addition, the function ensures compliance to the Food Safety requirements of commercial customers i.e. non-airline.


Job Purpose:


Define, develop and monitor the food safety strategy for food safety at EKFC and ensure successful execution of the strategy by leading, developing and managing the Food Safety team across EKFC and oversee the food safety operations at Food point.



Key Result Areas



Develop and implement the Food Safety strategy in collaboration with the stakeholders ensuring that all departmental Food Safety strategies and plans are delivered against agreed KPIs, best practice and deliverables.

Develop, monitor and provides oversight and transparency of Food Safety and Microbiology functional performance for consistently exceeding customer expectation, adherence to legal and regulatory requirements and promoting a compliance culture within the organisation.

Maintain a sustainable Food Safety Management System (FSMS) and Laboratory Quality Management system (LQMS) that will enable continuous improvement of product safety and hygienic practices across all businesses and functions. Direct the assurance, monitoring, verification and review of FSMS through audits inspections, governance plans and management systems reviews.

Identify opportunities, influence the business to gain support for food safety and overcome resistance by creating strong, persuasive, balanced positions through the use of data.

Develop and deploy strategy for food poisoning allegation and critical foreign object investigation and incident prevention procedures. Demonstrate due diligence through risk mitigation measures to reduce the likelihood food contamination.

Lead, motivate and develop a team of food safety professionals ensuring that they deliver food safety goals through managing performance against SMART individual goals and continuous constructive feedback.

Appraise the top management on the results of Food Safety goals and objectives of the organisation and recommend continuous improvement and benchmarking strategies.

Prepare well- reasoned and data-driven white papers by leveraging science and research for embracing next generation cutting edge technology for process improvement and enhancement.

Risk assess the operational processes to determine the required food safety and compliance interventions, auditing mechanisms, and regulatory impacts of business models. Work with Legal to provide food safety and compliance direction to Operations, to meet standards and requirements.
